ITINERARY: ART-LOVERS TOUR OF PARIS

June 17 through June 24, 2007


DAY 1: June 17 Sunday-Welcome to Paris

Arrive from your overnight flight to Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport, where you will travel by reserved shuttle service to the hotel.

Meet with your tour director at a Welcome-to-Paris luncheon in a quaint cafe near the hotel. Following lunch, you'll get a chance to stretch those legs and take a walking tour of Ile de la Cite and Notre Dame Cathedral with your tour guide. Then, free time to shop, relax, etc. until dinner.

Join other arrivals to the tour this evening at a Welcome Dinner at the hotel. Free French wine and food on us, of course! Don't stay up too late tonight though, as we have a busy day planned for tomorrow!


DAY 2: June 18 Monday-Musee du Louvre

Evening:

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Musee du Louvre with your art historian tour guide. Today, we will focus on French paintings by Fouquet, Poussin, LeBrun, Watteau, Boucher, Chardin, David, Ingres, Gericault and Delacroix.

Special lunch at the Louvre, followed by a private viewing of the Mona Lisa by Leonardo DaVinci!


Dinner on your own. Join your fellow travelers this evening for an optional cruise along the river Seine, and see Paris, the City of Light, at night!



DAY 3: June 19 Tuesday-Musee d'Orsay

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Musee d'Orsay with your art historian tour guide. We will examine masterpieces by Corot, the Barbizon School, early Manet and Degas, Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh and Toulouse-Lautrec.

Take a walking guided tour of the colorful Montmartre neighborhood, once home to many Impressionist artists. Lunch on your own.

Dinner on your own. Perhaps you'll take a twilight ride up the Eiffel Tower? Perhaps you'll wander the winding streets of the Latin Quarter on the Left Bank? The possibilities are seemingly endless in this enjoyable city!


DAY 4: June 20 Wednesday-Musee Rodin and Musee de Cluny

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Musee Rodin with your guide. For a change of pace, today we explore a museum devoted entirely to the sculpture of Rodin. You will be in awe of his creations such as "Age of Bronze," "Balzac," "Gates of Hell," and the "Burghers of Calais."

Visit the Musee de Cluny, with its Medieval marvels of architecture, stained-glass windows, tapestries, and other treasures. Lunch on your own.

Dinner on your own. For dessert, maybe try a French pastry.. or two, ... or three, or.......?




DAY 5: June 21 Thursday-Musee Picasso and Museum of Modern Art, Pompidou Center

Evening:

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Musee Picasso. View amazing paintings from Picasso's early Blue Period, from his Cubist and classical phases, and from his post WWI flirtation with Surrealism.

Free time this afternoon. Maybe you'll choose to lunch at a Parisian cafe, linger a bit longer at the museum, or sit in one of Paris' many outdoor parks and watch the world go by!

Dinner on your own. Take a guided tour of the Museum of Modern Art, the Pompidou Center, and experience the art of modern masters from Matisse to Magritte.


DAY 6: June 22 Friday-Musee Marmottan-Monet

Evening:

Breakfast at the hotel. With your guide, visit the Musee Marmottan-Monet which houses the largest collection of Monet paintings in the world!


Lunch on your own. Then shopping perhaps?


Dinner and wine-tasting with the tour group.



DAY 7: June 23 Saturday-Giverny and Musee de L'Orangerie

Evening:

Breakfast at the hotel. Full-day trip to visit Monet's house and gardens at Giverny, outside of Paris. See Monet's Japanese bridge, and his waterlily ponds and gardens, all designed by Monet himself, which inspired so much of his later work.

Lunch on your own.

Dinner on your own. The Musee de L'Orangerie in the Jardin de Tuileries in Paris is open this evening, and that's exactly where we are headed! See firsthand the breath-taking "Les Nympheas," Claude Monet's grand-scale waterscape of his ponds and waterlilies, which he bequeathed to the people of France in 1918.


DAY 8: June 24 Sunday-Tour Concludes after Breakfast
